City Engineer Adam Lancaster will be resigning from his position with the City effective Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
Adam has been an employee with the City since August of 1996. He has worked on numerous successful projects during his tenure and has guided city staff, city council, contractors, and builders through policies and procedures to ensure all parties were in compliance with local municipal codes and state and national standards, codes, guidelines, safety, and specifications. Adam consistently held everyone to the highest standards and treated all parties fairly across the board while managing multiple projects. The City thanks Adam for over twenty-four years of professionalism and expertise. We wish Adam the best in his future endeavors and will miss him and the wealth of knowledge he brought to the city.
Questions for the Engineering Department may be directed to John Merritt. John comes to us from the engineering firm HR Green and will be providing interim engineering services for the City for approximately ten to twelve weeks while we work on restructuring. You can contact John at 719.269.9011 xt. 5291 or john.merritt@canoncity.org.
Moving forward, the City will be restructuring how it delivers services and eliminating the City Engineer position, which will be replaced by a Public Works Director who will oversee Water, Engineering, Parks, and Streets/Fleets/Facilities. The City will also rebrand the Community Development Department as Community Vitality which will house the Economic Development, Planning & Zoning, and Building Departments. These are some of the steps the City is taking to be more development and business friendly, create vibrancy in the community, and meet community goals by workings towards implementation and delivery of the Picture Cañon City 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
