6. Use this crime tip form to submit information regarding suspicious, nuisance, and criminal activity to the Cañon City Police Department. You may submit a tip anonymously or include your personal contact information. Personal contact information provided may become part of a police report or other record. Fill out as much information that you may know, including the type of issue, location, and any physical suspect description. Please include your information if you would like a member of the Cañon City Police Department to follow up with you directly. If you are reporting a crime in progress or require emergency service, please dial 9-1-1 from a phone now. If you need to report non-emergency crimes, please call dispatch at 719.276.5600 and select option 6.

   Always call dispatch when property crimes include theft of weapons and/or any property with known serial numbers. Do not use this form to report traffic accidents. Do not use this form to report identity theft. If this crime is a misuse of credit or debit cards, please complete the Identity Theft Report Form (PDF).

Whenever possible, the Canon City Police Department will take action on any reported crime or tip, however, without personal contact information, we may not be able to follow up on your report or take action regarding your concern. Personal contact information provided may become part of a police report or other record. In order to best serve you, if any of the following apply, please contact the police department in person or by phone at 719-276-5600 and select option 6 to speak with dispatch:

    • You can identify a suspect.

    • You are reporting a violent crime.

    • Physical evidence was left behind by the suspect.

    • The incident is traffic-related.

    • The amount of loss is more than $1,000.

    • The incident is related to graffiti.

    • Weapons were stolen.

    • You know the serial number(s) of the stolen property.

    Incidents not occurring within the city limits of the City of Canon City will be forwarded to the appropriate local law enforcement agency.
