Our Parks Department have decorated downtown with holiday lights and many merchants have their stores and windows decorated for the season! A number of downtown businesses will be running First Friday holiday specials. Fremont Center for the Arts “Winters of Wonderland” opening art reception runs from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. and The Artists’ Gallery artist reception runs from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Families are invited to meet and take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the library starting at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy a tree ornament craft for kids and families in the Carnegie library while listening to holiday music performed by guitarist Bob Weir. The Cañon City High School Madrigal Singers will be performing a variety of Christmas classics in Macon Plaza and Mayor Ashley Smith will turn on the Christmas Tree lights at 7:00 p.m. We will be providing complimentary hot chocolate and s’mores. In addition, there will be food for purchase by From the Flames Wood Fired Pizza. Our famous snowball fight area will be set up with our fake plush snowballs and police officers ready to dodge them!
The holiday celebration continues on Saturday, December 2nd with the Royal Gorge Chamber Alliance’s 34th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights taking place down 5th to 10th Streets of Historic Main Street starting at 6:00 p.m. This year’s theme is “The Carols of Christmas.” Come early to enjoy the Downtown Business Alliance’s Main Street window decorating contest, merchant specials, and food trucks. It’s going to be a fun and festive weekend and we hope to see you there!
