Programs
The Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) Community Policing mission includes developing and maintaining partnerships. This results in improved communication between residents, business owners and staff, organization managers, and visitors to our area. Additionally, these efforts promote crime prevention strategies. The CCPD is active in a variety of community outreach efforts, including:
- Annual Starpoint/Special Olympics basketball fundraiser
- “Back the Blue” K-9 program funded by community donations
- Citizens’ Academy and Citizens’ Academy Alumni programs
- Coffee With a Cop (every other month at various locations)
- Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
- Crime prevention materials
- DEA Drug Take Back twice a year
- Fundraisers for the annual Shop With A Cop event
- High school intern program (PaiCE)
- National Night Out observance
- Neighborhood Watch
- Participation in the Head Start Safety Town, AMR Safety Jam, and other community events
- Tip A Cop fundraiser for Special Olympics
