In-Person Transactions for Online Purchases
The Cañon City Police Department offers residents the use of the Police Department lobby for in-person transactions through Craigslist, eBay, or other buy/sell/trade sites. This is available whenever the CCPD lobby is open.
Hours are Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
This location encourages buyers and sellers to practice safety when engaging in face-to-face transactions.
Transaction Safety Tips
- Learn as much about the party you are meeting as you can beforehand.
- Always inform someone you know and trust about when and where you are meeting someone.
- Avoid making cash transactions whenever possible – instead use other secure financial methods.
- Don’t reveal unnecessary personal information.
- Remember, if a deal seems too good to be true, be extremely cautious.
