Citizen Surveys
Cañon City’s annual surveys are completed by The National Research Center (NCR). The NRC randomly selects 1,500 households in the City and mail surveys to them in order to solicit citizen input about Cañon City’s quality of life, community characteristics, governance, participation, City services and special topics.
How to Read the Survey Results
The survey results are weighted to reflect the demographic profile of the residents of the community. This is an important method to adjust for potential non-response bias. In addition to the scientific, mail-in survey, the NRC also conducted a non-scientific online version of the survey so more residents could provide feedback to the City Council. In addition, the survey findings are also broken down by household income, age, City Council districts, and benchmarked against over 400 communities who evaluated the same kinds of topics on the National Citizen Survey.
